Amer Fort is located at a distance of about 11 kilometers from Jaipur, this fort is one of the important and largest fort of Rajasthan, as well as it is one of the major tourist destinations of Rajasthan. This fort was built by Raja Mann Singh in 1592 AD. After its construction, for the next 150 years, his successors did the work of expansion and renovation of this fort.
Every day about five thousand tourists come here to visit this fort. Amer Fort is made of pink and yellow sandstone. Amer Fort is built in traditional Hindu and Rajputana style, the main gate of this fort is called ‘Suraj Pol’ or Surya Gate and the other gate is called “Chandra Pol”. It is said that the royal family of the king and the king used to enter from the Sun Gate and the general public used to enter the palace from the Moon Gate. On entering the fort, a huge courtyard called ‘Jalebi Chowk’ is visible. This Jalebi Chowk was used to gather the army and from this they were directed for war. It is said by the local people about this palace that a treasure of Raja Man Singh is hidden here, but it has not been authenticated till date. Along with this many secret caves and paths are made in this palace. Apart from Diwan-e-Aam, Ganesh Pol, Hamam, Sukh Niwas, Sheesh Mahal, there are many other magnificent places in this fort.
