Kuldhara village is 17 km away from Jaisalmer, about 200 years ago there used to be a prosperous village of Paliwal Brahmins. According to a legend, the village head’s daughter, had the evil eye of the powerful and ill-mannered minister Salim Singh of the state, Salim Singh wanted to forcefully marry her.
Because of this, he threatened the whole village that if they did not listen to him, then the whole village would have to face dire consequences. It is said that the Paliwals, instead of obeying his order, organized a meeting and people from 85 villages attended it, it was decided in that meeting that they would not obey the orders of Salim Singh and after that all the Kuldhara villagers left their ancestral homes and disappeared.

And before leaving, he cursed Kuldhara that no one would be able to settle in this village after that. And those curses continue to this day, the village remains barren, almost as it was left by its inhabitants centuries ago. It is also said that those who have tried to stay there at night experience strange paranormal phenomena.
